Breath of the Wild is unarguably one of the best games to be released this year, if not ever if review scores are to be believed. But what exactly goes into making such a large and successful game? Nintendo has released a three-part video series on their YouTube channel which overviews some of the processes the developers went through in crafting Link’s newest adventure.

You can check out all three videos in the series below. They’re well worth a watch, especially if you’ve enjoyed the game and want to find out more about how it was made. It also features some early ideas pitched by the designers – one of which includes UFOS that would abduct cattle with test footage shown of Link running across a battlefield whilst explosions go off all around him. Now that would have made for a break in the traditional Zelda convention!
