After Nintendo discontinued the NES Mini a few months ago many fans suspected a SNES Mini was in the works, unsurprisingly and like clockwork, Nintendo has now confirmed a Mini version of the 16-bit system.

Launching in September the system will come pre-installed with 21 of the most popular games for the system as well as the previously unreleased Star Fox 2. The full list of games can be found below.

  • Contra III: The Alien Wars
  • Donkey Kong Country
  • EarthBound
  • Final Fantasy III
  • F-ZERO
  • Kirby Super Star
  • Kirby’s Dream Course
  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
  • Mega Man X
  • Secret of Mana
  • Star Fox
  • Star Fox 2
  • Street Fighter® II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
  • Super Castlevania IV
  • Super Ghouls ’n Ghosts
  • Super Mario Kart
  • Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
  • Super Mario World
  • Super Metroid
  • Super Punch-Out!!
  • Yoshi’s Island

The system will come packaged with two wired SNES controllers, an HDMI cable and a USB power cable, though in what seems to becoming a trend with Nintendo, it won’t come with the AC adapter, you’ll need to supply your own.

GAME UK currently has the 90’s inspired machine listed at £79.99 so it’s a costy alternative to your RetroPi machine. The SNES Mini releases on the 29th of September; let us know if you plan to add one to your collection.
