Gearbox Publishing has partnered with Compulsion Games to take the Kickstarter-funded We Happy Few, the eerie adventure about survival and paranoia, to new heights as they announced that the game will be available both digitally and at retail for Xbox One, Windows 10 Store, PC, and PlayStation 4 next year.
We Happy Few takes place in an alt history version of 1960’s London, specifically the fictional society of Wellington Wells, where the inhabitants are literally full of Joy – a mind-bending drug that alters the users perception on reality.
Players explore the procedurally generated world in order to collect and craft items, and interact with the Joy-obsessed society of Wellington Wells through stealth, combat, and conformity as they attempt to survive encounters with their drug-addled former neighbors, old friends, ex-lovers, and even each other, they may dig up some long-buried secrets of Wellington Wells itself.
The physical version of the game will come as a game disc only standard edition or jam packed collectors edition which is chock full of groovy 60’s style memorabilia:
The announcement was accompanied by a wonderful trailer which features one of the playable characters avoiding the local residents including some malevolently faced bobbies whilst also showing off some We Happy Few’s gameplay:
We Happy Few is due for release across Xbox One, Windows 10 Store, PC, and PlayStation 4 on 13th April 2018
