Konami has today announced that a free update to Super Bomberman R for the Nintendo Switch will bring with it a host of new content as well as a new mode: Grand Prix Mode.
Super Bomberman R was released alongside the Nintendo Switch back in March, and while it faired pretty well the content couldn’t justify the £50 asking price. Eight months later, however, and Konami is still adding free content bringing the game up to version 2.0.
The new Grand Prix Mode has been designed specifically for future planned eSports events and is a 3 vs 3 team based game mode where players battle it out using new characters and in different arenas. The new mode will feature different types of matches like the ones below:
“Crystal Match” – two teams compete against one another to earn points by collecting crystals. If you’re blown away by a bomb you’ll lose half of your crystals. The team with the most wins at the end of the match.
“Basic Bomber” – a simple game mode where each player has a certain number of lives and play by standard Bomberman rules.
In addition, the new content adds nine new characters as well as a new world tot he storey mode – World 7 – as well as a variety of new stages and accessories.
