Nintendo Confirms Big Update for Splatoon 2 Starting This Week

Starting this week Nintendo has confirmed that Splatoon 2 will be getting a host of fresh new content!

Included in the update, which goes live on the 24th of November, will b four new battle stages (which will rotate in over subsequent weeks), a new Salmon Run stage titled “Salmonid Smokeyard”, around 140 new pieces of gear, new battle music, new hairstyles and a new level cap of 99.

Players who hit the level 99 mark can talk to Ludd to reset to level 1* to continue levelling. Much like Call of Duty’s prestige mode.

In addition, players will now be able to easily switch gear mid-game without needing to leave the game lobby. A much-needed addition if you ask me. Come mid-December a new game mode will be added. Titled “Clam Blitz”. Check out the press release below.

Clam Blitz: In Clam Blitz, competing Inklings are tasked with collecting clams scattered around the stage. After one is picked up, the clam follows the player. The objective is to throw the clam into the basket near the opponent’s base, and the first team to score 100 points wins! But, of course, this being the fiercely competitive world of Splatoon 2, things are not as easy as they seem. The baskets are protected by a barrier, which much be destroyed first. After collecting 10 clams, the player will earn a Power Clam. These super-powered clams are the key to breaking the barrier, so strategic Inklings need to decide which clams are used to destroy the barrier and which are used to earn points. Not to mention the extra-satisfying opportunity to steal opponents’ clams by splatting them.

How excited are you for the update? As someone that plays Splatoon 2 quite a bit, the new additions are welcome. Fair play to Nintendo for keeping the game updated.
