Microsoft have been working on a cloud gaming service, to bring high quality gaming to players on any device. They want to make gaming accessible to everyone, and they plan to do it through their new service, Project xCloud.
Project xCloud is a custom build cloud gaming platform by Microsoft, with the aim for players to be able to stream their Xbox One games to any device. With public trials beginning in 2019 – which will allow the company to evaluate volumes and locations – the aim is to break the wall of gaming to enable players across devices to connect and play.
While there are a number of cloud gaming services available right now, Microsoft’s Project xCloud has been custom built for this very purpose. Running on custom hardware called Project xCloud Blades which takes the components of multiple Xbox One consoles and combines them into one processing unit.
Say what you will about Microsoft, but like Nintendo they’re really looking to innovate the way games are played as of late. With their push for cross-platform gaming and now with their Project xCloud, I can’t help but admire their dedication to gamers and their desire to make gaming accessible to everyone.
