Alersteam have been working on Exoplanet: First Contact for the past three years, but now they finally feel they are ready to release it to the world.
Exoplanet: First Contact is a story driven action RPG. Players take control of Jack Sharp, the games protagonist who finds himself stranded on K’Tharsis, a remote mining planet. Throughout the campaign, Jack must fight for his very survival by relying on his ever increasing skills to make the right choice in the blink of an eye.
Taking inspiration from games such as Fallout, TESIII Morrowind, Gothic, and the Firefly TV-series, Exoplanet: First Contact strikes a good balance between shoot-em up gameplay and exploration. The game features rich characters, many of whom have their own motives and secrets to explore. Exoplanet has been defined as a “Space Western”, where cybernetic augmentations and hoverbikes are the norm, but at the end of the day, a good old fashioned revolver is the way forward.
Alersteam have developed Exoplanet using their own game engine called the Sahara Engine, which gives the team more flexibility. This also means once released, the community can easily add tot he game in the form of missions and mods, or even spin offs of the game through a provided modkit.
The team are close to releasing the Exoplanet, but in order to do so they have taken to Kickstarter to raise $45,000 for the final stretch of development. If you’re interested in supporting this project, take a look at the Kickstarter page. At the time of writing the project has hit $4,902 of it’s $45,000 goal with 28 days left to go.
